Department of Microbiology, which was established in the year 2014, offering the much sought-after undergraduate programme in Microbiology, holds the distinction of being one of the few emerging Microbiology departments in Kerala. With a vibrant and promising student community that consists of students from India and abroad, the department focuses on imparting quality education and providing an excellent research environment through its ongoing programmes. The department is well equipped with the necessary facilities required for studies and research in different domains of Microbiology. Particularly, the department has been encouraging students to think independently and develop innovative research ideas. There are currently four faculty members in the department with all of them holding PhD in Microbiology. The teaching fraternity of the department is committed to producing cutting edge research and imparting quality education. Notably, the depart has already produced many university rank holders within this short span of time. Two students from the Department have recently completed an innovative and promising project under Young Innovators Programme (YIP), a specially designed programme under Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-DISC).
