Dr. Akhil S.V. is Assistant Professor at the Post Graduate Department of Zoology and Research Centre, Sanatana Dharma College. He joined the Department in 2021 after procuring Ph.D. from the University of Calicut (awarded in 2020). A University Rank Holder at the under-graduate and post-graduate levels, Dr. Akhil S.V. was awarded Junior Research Fellowship by UGC in 2014. Multiple research publications, conference presentations and contributions to the discovery of new animal taxa testify to his research experience. Dr. Akhil S.V. has successfully completed a research project on “Taxonomy and Biogeographic affinities of lesser known Carabidae” funded by SERB, Govt. of India (2019-21).

· Dr. Akhil S.V. has described 10 new species of Carabidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from India.
· He has described 2 new species of Staphylinidae (Insecta: Coleoptera) from India.
· He has described a new Genus (Physoglossus Akhil and Sabu 2020) of subfamily Anthiinae.
· Revised the Bombardier beetle Genera Brachinus and Pheropsorphus of India.
· Performed basic molecular barcoding analysis and submitted 22 nucleotide sequences to NCBI.
He delivered an invited lecture as part of the “National Webinar on Taxonomy and its Applications, learn from Experts” organized by Zoological Survey of India – Western Regional Centre, Pune, on September 9th 2020.
